Labor and Delivery Nurse

Labor and delivery nurses assist and monitor both woman and fetus throughout the labor and childbirth process and continue to monitor mom and baby after birth. They assist physicians and midwives during childbirth and are present for long periods of time during the labor/birth and post-birth phases.

Nurses are responsible for identifying any abnormalities during labor involving fetal heart rate monitoring, contraction measurements, cervical dilation rate, and other assessments post-delivery of mother and infant.

A labor and delivery nurse expert can write reports and give testimony on all areas of labor and childbirth including complications, abnormalities, medication administration, and operating room procedures to do with cesarean deliveries.
