Legal Nurse Consultant

A Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) is a nurse that works with attorneys on medical-legal cases to help review, summarize, and interpret medical records and review cases for merit. An attorney may utilize an LNC’s skills to help them understand the standards in nursing care, help prepare for trial, deposition, and arbitration.

A legal nurse may work in settings including legal firms, independent consulting practices, or insurance companies and can play a vital role in the medical-legal process.

A nurse who wishes to work in the legal nurse consulting world need only have solid knowledge and experience in nursing and an understanding of the legal process. If a nurse should like to become a certified legal nurse consultant they can become certified through the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.
